Plastic Product Design Engineer
 

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will actively participate in defining the optimum engineered solution for clients' material handling problems. Utilize direction and input from Application and Sales Engineers to create the engineered solution. Position involves the creation of the CAD solid models and detailed drawings that fully communicate the engineered solution.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Generate alternative solutions to the client's problem. Work with the Application Engineers and Engineering Analyst to determine the optimum solution.
  • Create the CAD solid models and associated drawings required, utilizing best practices and applicable customer drawing standards.
  • Work cross functionally with other team members to resolve problems and assure timely execution of engineered solutions.
  • Provide design concepts as required to support timely completion of quotations.
  • Implement required engineering changes to part models and associated drawings assuring that the model is the definitive record.
  • Execute assignments with total compliance to all standards. Share ideas for continuous improvement of procedures and systems.

Skill & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Plastic injection molding product design knowledge .
  • Mold Design and Moldflow analysis experience very beneficial .
  • Proficiency in I-deals required, ProE / Pro Engineer (Wildfire) or SolidWorks a plus.
  • Fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Extensive solid modeling experience.
  • Advanced CAD and drafting skills.
  • Data management and transfer skills.
  • Communication and teamwork skills.
  • Workload and time management skills - comfortable with tight project deadlines.
